Pinot Noir. Adelaide Hills is definitely still cool enough. Winemaker is Adam Eggins.
Taylors Estate, Pinot Noir, Adelaide Hills, 2017
Light garnet with a slight cerise edge. Raspberry and cola as prime with stalky cherry, dried thyme and toasty oak. Shiny, bright raspberry, plum and cherry flavours, heading towards full bodied. There’s some rose petal and tart brown spice before very light chalky tannin and a waxy, bitter orange, sharp-ish finish. Does it have pinosity? A touch. Is it layered? Not quite. But then it is also difficult to nail pinot “x factor” at the sub $20 price range. Certainly food friendly so serve up in tumblers with good friends at the dinner table.
