Shingleback Davey Estate Reserve Shiraz 2015

Shingleback send out selected back vintages from time to time if you’re lucky enough to be part of their “The Pick” club as a wonderful time capsule view of how the wines are travelling. A slight name change from 2016 onwards (which Shingleback have rolled to), with the change from ‘Reserve’ to ‘Single Vineyard’ as per the bottle image.

Shingleback, Davey Estate, Reserve, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2015

McLaren Vale writ large, yet with class. Deep, dense aromas of plush choco/red berry tempered by a cooling mineral graphite line, kissed by sweet oak (French and American). Evocation of a smoking room drape. The palate delivers more of the same, down the velvety tannins. Medium-full bodied with a fine focus there’s generosity without opulence and finishing with an earthy chary off-set.

RRP: $25 (current vintage)
Alc: 14%
Rating: 17.75/20
