The flagship of the the Heggies range. Fruit from a single block on the high elevation Heggies Vineyard (Block “i”). For all the clone nerds out there, made from Bernard Clones 76, 95 and 96. French oak maturation: 35% new, 45% one year old and the remaining 20% two to four years old. 16 months on lees. Wild ferment and vegan friendly. Crafted by Marc Van Halderen.
Heggies Vineyard, Reserve, Chardonnay, Eden Valley, 2017
Ginger spice pushing lemon/lime splice (citrus and ice cream) with attractive cedary oak, toasted hazelnuts, torn fig sweetness, grilled nectarine and some funky depth from the wild ferment and lees depth. Expansive, yet refined with toothsome phenolics and succulent, juicy acidity providing a long, balanced, driving finish.
Rating: 18.5/20 (94/100)
