A mea culpa here after moving house and find some samples stashed in the wrong area. d’Arenberg have moved to the 2018 of their icon blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre.
d’Arenberg, The Ironstone Pressings, GSM, McLaren Vale, 2017
Full expression of choc raspberry, strawberry, balsamic glaze, sweet oak, herbal leafy lift, small blue stones, cherry flesh, blue meats and cooling near mint quality. Fleshy, full and still cool. Stones and mineral in the spine while plum, cherry and raspberry fruit wrap around and kisses of oak still pecking away. Tannins are integrating nicely, so the extra year of bottle age isn’t a bad thing here.
