Over 7 years aging on lees. A blend of Chardonnay (49%) and Pinot Noir (51%). Partial barrel fermentation in aged French oak for seven months for the base wine. Jennifer Doyle (long time Jansz vine whisperer) finishing this off after previous custodianship of Teresa Heuzenroeder and Louisa Rose.
Jansz Tasmania, Late Disgorged, Vintage Cuvée, Pipers River, 2015
Still a youthful pale gold colour. Fine and tight beading. Complex perfume: nougat, roast hazelnuts, strawberry red fruits, brioche, peanut oil, preserved lime and lemon, briny sea spray and earthy fresh truffle. Expressive and delicate mousse. Still razor sharp and precise. Only hints of development with a little truffle and yeasty depth, else wise super primary with limey citrus and green apple tartness balanced with a layered chalky texture. The price is bordering on ridiculous.
