d’Arenberg, The Ironstone Pressings, GSM, McLaren Vale, 2019
Hmmm. Full, potent, and…to be honest a little developed from the outset. Bound under the weight with distinct meaty and umami savoury wash with shoots and spikes of raspberry, choc nut, old leather, mocha and a little crushed kitchen herb. Cedar and oak appear towards the finish. Blunt flow with broad, spreading tannins. While it’s going to have fans, it feels heavy and missing a little spark and life. Drink now.
