The 4th release of the Syrah (Shiraz) from Greer Carland of Quiet Mutiny. Wild ferment, with some parcels whole bunch. 20% new French oak.
Quiet Mutiny, Venus Rising, Syrah, Tasmania, 2023

Opaque and a little turbid, garnet colour. Peppery and bloody. Gunflint and ferrous with greengage, plum, garrigue herbs, ganache, charred ends, blueberry and bluestone. Tight and fine: some tacky-ness to the tannins with a lingering juicy citrus acidity thrust. There’s plenty of cool climate pepper spice sprinkled liberally across the just mid-weight body. Good balance through the fine tail. One for those that like filigree and tension.
