Pinnacle in the Estate range and named after Garry and Margaret’s daughter Zoe. Sourced from the Crittenden’s home block. Winemaking sees wild fermentation in a mixture of new,
one and two year old French oak barriques. 11 months maturation in the same oak. with around 80% of the parcels going through malolactic fermentation Winemaker is next generation Rollo Crittenden.
Crittenden Estate, Zumma, Chardonnay, Mornington Peninsula, 2022

Pale lemon to straw colour. Gun flint, roast chicken gravy, lemon drops, lemon zest, fig, fresh cardboard box, almost mocha like oak, almond paste, ghee and a savoury briny undertone. Fleshy and generous but plays a straight bat with crisp acidity and nicely judged oak wrapping, leaving a pleasant textural rumble and piquancy. Bitter citrus echoes long. Will handle fleshier white meat dishes and stand strong.
