From the single, close planted Sinapius vineyard in Pipers River. The Sinapius story is worth understanding. You can read about Linda and Vaughn’s story here.
The 3rd release of the label. The wine is de-stemmed, whole berries that are naturally fermented. Pressed off to old French oak barriques after 14 days on skins.
Sinapius, Vaughn’s Jardin, Gamay, Pipers River, Tasmania, 2023
Bright and clear ruby. Light spice tickles before red currant, light cherry and warming rose petals,. Bright and floral. There’s a serious undertone with a meaty and stony nuance, but that stays bass and doesn’t intrude on the appeal of the song lines above it. Some purple berries (boysenberry? Loganberry?) round out the plushness. White pepper spice twinges and teases. Such etching and line work in the fine tannins, while the acidity is alive and the whole thing ripples with life. A wonderful legacy.
