A blend of Shiraz 69% and Malbec 31%. The name comes from the winemaking technique of lees stirring (bâtonnage).
Bremerton, Bâtonnage, Shiraz/Malbec, Langhorne Creek, 2022
Inky purple with a bright rim. Spiced and plush: there’s baking spices and white pepper atop blackberries, blood plum, double cream, violets, a little cedary oak and savoury/sweet malt. The palate is framed well: plentiful tight and sandy tannins underlay dark fruit punctuated with woody spice with an even flow. There’s a bright flourish through the tail bringing a juicy immediacy to consumption. Now to 5 years.
