Yalumba Eden Valley Roussanne 2025

Still one of the few single Roussanne bottlings in Australia. Sourced primarily from a single vineyard next door to the Yalumba winery (along with another Angaston vineyard an another in the high Eden). Part of the ‘Samuel’s Collection’ of mid tier wines. Wild ferment. Fermentation and maturation for 10 months in old French oak barriques. Vegan friendly.  Alexey Alon Doumbouya is the winemaker.

Yalumba, Roussanne, Eden Valley, 2025

Mid lemon hue. Stone fruit slices over rock salt, chamomile yellow and white flowers, butter just out of the fridge, lemon juice, short crust pastry and wax paper roll. Textural and carrying a peppery spice over a slightly waxy and tart palate. The waxy phenolic weight gives some bass notes, while the salty/brininess is like a Margarita glass rim. Neatly balanced, and with that cool freshness would easily handle a plate of roast pork & crackling or KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) or a cauliflower dish (bake or soup).

RRP: $28
Alc: 13%
Rating: 92/100
