Pretty electric blue label and delicate lettering tells me these grapes were sourced at 550 & 860 above sea level in King Valley, Victoria. Good height for sparkling grapes, obviously. Along with Ellora’s sister Emily, these releases showcase Redbank’s quality and value in sparkling production.
Redbank Ellora Vintage Sparkling Chardonnay/Pinot Noir, King Valley 2012
Lots of exciting bubbles: lemon curd, light strawberry and grilled nuts. A little fairy floss from the pinot red fruit. Lightly textured mousse which breaks out to preserved lemon citrus, smoky lees and a hint of yeasty vegemite. Finish is quite savoury with a little biscuit dough and some cleansing acidity. Very good value. Mrs Drew thoroughly enjoyed her taste of the Ellora along with some Melshell oysters….
