Mudgee Semillon sails under the radar (sonar?) a little in comparison to the more well recognised gutsy reds and even Chardonnay. But when you’ve got a dab hand such as Jacob Stein at the tiller, you can be assured of a smooth ride.
Robert Stein, Semillon, Mudgee 2015
Opens with lemongrass, lemon skin, fresh grass clippings and flinty cool rocks. On the palate, up front green apple crisp and tart flavours before the fleshy lemon and lemongrass round out the mid palate. Quartzy, dry rock minerality dries the fruit out before long cutting acidity. A quality and refreshing example.
