From 30 year old vines…
TarraWarra Estate Reserve Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley, 2014
Ripe cherry fruit and rich brown spice. A salty bitter lick, slightly sweet toffee caramel nose. An amount of stink, reductive cabbage that eventually blows off to become rose petal, before lipstick and smoked woods.
Warmer vintage is apparent with full-ish fruit up front but still a statuesque body. Palate is cherry Ripe and delicate plum before tannin drawstrings pull tight. Lingering savoury meat and master stock balance. Expressive, but not too overt. Quality Pinot Noir.
