Tahbilk Riesling 2016

From the estate plantings of Riesling in 1975, the vines are definitely showing maturity. I’m also a sucker for a tactile label…and the decorative swirls feel great under the fingers.

Tahbilk, Riesling, Nagambie 2016

Spritely lemon/lime, cold tea and chalk. The citrus lilts into light mandarin before a smear of complex margarine. Like little diamonds falling into your mouth, the sparkling crystalline acidity has shiny bumps before full citrus spectrum fruit with a little bit of gooseberry green note as an appendage. There’s a richness to the palate too, almost a touch of oilyness to coat the mouth before falling away to the acidity that cuts right the way through. Medium term only cellaring for this one.

RRP: $18.90

Alc: 13%
