Serafino, makers of the value Bellissimo range up the ante here with this Reserve.

If McLaren Vale Grenache can be reticent, then this is that. Almost shy fruit has to be eked from the glass: Soft rubber, deep raspberry, baked citrus and stewed earthy rhubarb before the complexity of light lamb roast meatiness rounds it all out. Has some savoury black fruits to counter the plentiful raspberry jus. Full mouth-feel with elements of slippery glycerol, before grainy tannins pervade. Very good, but something of the wine making artifice in it makes me sneeze…
