Berton Vineyards Foundstone Unoaked Chardonnay 2017

Must be one of the few wines left in Australia to be labelled as “unoaked,” though we don’t have to go back very far to remember when it was all the rage.

Berton Vineyards, Foundstone, Unoaked, Chardonnay, S.E.A, 2017

A pale gold colour, has all the smells you expect: ripe yellow stonefruit and preserved lemons with a little bit of brown spice for interest. A surprisingly robust palate with ripe yellow fruit: bittersweet pineapple core, grapefruit and lemon. Doesn’t reach great heights, but the winemaking is sound
