Frontera Pinot Noir 2015

A label of the uber stable Concha y Toro, one of the big players in South America. This is imported into Australia exclusively by Woolworth’s liquor arm, Pinnacle Drinks and available at their outlets: Dan Murphy’s and BWS.

Frontera, Pinot Noir, Chile, 2015

The label I’ve been sent is slightly updated from the one above and looking a little classier. The position of the mountain range (I assume it’s meant to be the one overlooking the Aconcagua region?) has moved to its own location at the top of the label, pushing the ‘Frontera’ to mid-label and ‘Chile’ is now right aligned instead of centre. But anyway, enough of the label (even though it is one of the most interesting things about the wine).  Garnet red in the glass. Meaty, sappy, pippy cherry aromas with a sweet vanilla edge. Hyper clean strawberry, raspberry and cherry fruit with a sweet confectionery mid palate. Fine tannin profile and sour acidity. Just scrapes in for “pinosity.”

RRP: $13 (but you’ll get it much cheaper)
Alc: 12.5%
Rating: 14/20
