Part of the new I Am George range celebrating the life and times of Australian wine pioneer George Wyndham. There’s a good tale of what George fixed on the website, but I’m pretty sure it didn’t play out like the label suggests (also interested to know how many other labels have angry scorpions on them!?). Available at Woolworth’s Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores.
George The Fixer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River, 2016
The first aroma is one of (implied) heat before vanilla bean, polish, blackcurrant and blackberry. Sandy tannin structure and good leafy brambly blackcurrant flavours. However, the wine seems stretched and thus has made good flavours have to work too hard to match the sweet alcohol. Would be a good match for food, but hard to enjoy a glass as is.
