Yet again Jacob Stein has made a riesling that over delivers. The wine’s fermentation stopped at 15 grams per litre of residual sugar. Left in tank on lees for a further 4 months with occasional stirring.
Robert Stein, Half Dry, RS15, Riesling, Mudgee, 2018
Almost water clear with a pale gold/green hue. Perfumed and inviting nose. Hints of lavender and musk over lime cordial and smoky green matcha tea and citrus blossom. Precision on the palate, carries all the delicate, elegance crystalline minerality of a dry riesling, yet the palate beautifully weighted. The fruit has a charging vibrancy and the sweetness just enough to add flesh to the bones. An excellent example of a half dry riesling.
