Currently moving interstate and found this buried among the sample pile. De Bortoli have moved to the 2016, but here’s a peek into the time capsule. This vintage won plenty of awards including gold and the Trophy for best Sweet White Wine at the 2016 National Capital Wine Show and gold at 2016 Royal Hobart Wine Show. If you can’t afford Noble One, this is the next best thing at a fraction of the price.
Creamy vanilla bean laced nose of apricot slices, kernel and jam, lemon butter, perfumed white flowers. The palate still searing with natural acidity, developing beautifully with rich and luscious, ripe, honeyed stonefruit and lemony citrus pith/zest. Will live for a few more years yet, but ready to match a decadent lemon tart or potent cheese board.
