Whilst Andrew Thomas has a focus for single vineyard shiraz, there’s always a little bit left over from the various barrels from the vineyards. The split this year is 53% Sweetwater, 27% Kiss, 13% Belford and 7% Dam Block parcels.
Thomas Wines, Elenay, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2017
Attractively perfumed. Deep red rose petal richness, blue plum and hints of purple ‘wine gum’ with lovely garnishes from sweet, classy oak. A silky dark fruit experience with a fine, tight tannin structure that gives a fascia to the balanced medium-full muscle of the fruit. Length, length and length. A fine, classy finish. All wrapped up for the now, this is a medium to long term investment.
