Yelland & Papps, Second Take, Grenache, Barossa Valley, 2018
Pungent spice and minerally bluestone/earth. The fruit aromas burst forward with tutti frutti/bubblegum. More aromas develop in the glass: tobacco, rhubarb, aniseed and even blackcurrant. Fresh and vibrant. An excellent energy to the wine with dark and red fruits gliding smoothly across the medium-full bodied palate. There’s stalky grip and an ashen smoky finish. Nothing overt or flashy, but toothsomely sophisticated.
