Meadowbank’s shiraz vines in the upper Derwent Valley date back to a pioneering, if optimistic, 1974. Peter Dredge in charge of the wine making ensures a steadfast application of excellence.
Meadowbank, Syrah, Derwent Valley, 2018
Rife with spice and pepper (rotundone). Cherry and red currant fruit like a beacon shining through aforementioned spice. There’s a sweetness which borders on BojoNouveau carbonic with a juicy hint. Oak provides a delicious fresh bakery toast element. The palate crunchy and bright. Cool climate shiraz handled masterfully delivers a purity and coolness to the wine. Green peppercorn spice lingers tantalisingly. A masterful wine with understated class.
