Heggies Vineyard, Reserve, Chardonnay, Eden Valley, 2016
The flagship of the the Heggies range and it shows. The colour of the wine youthful soft gold with distinct green highlights. Distinct bacon/smoky meatiness to the nose along with buttery citrus and citrus zest, sweet brioche and a briny/mineral flinty-shell component. Offers complexity on the just-medium bodied palate with savoury, earthy elements: nutty meal and that aforementioned meaty/smoky quality from the barrel works. Bittersweet citrus over white stonefruit to a juicy, lip smacking finish of bristling acidity.
