La Volpe translates as “The Fox” in Italian. and he’s there on the label, eyeing off peacock for dinner…The label tells the story of Roberto’s beloved pet peacock ‘Peaky.’ It could also be seen as a tongue in cheek reference to the winelovers battle between Barolo and Burgundy. Old oak maturation.
Pizzini, La Volpe, Nebbiolo, King Valley, 2017
Striking Chinotto bitter orange aromas with light rose petal, red currants and smoky, earthy charred campfire logs. Brightly red fruit underpinned by the bittersweet Chinotto and tart strawberry. Medium bodied, with crunchy acidity and a finely knitted tannin structure that washes over all components.
