Sourced entirely from the Somerset vineyard. Night harvested to retain pristine fruit quality. 2019 brought low yields and a later ripening: Higher alcohols, higher pH and lower TA (titratable acidity). Left to mature ‘cloudy’ for 4 months in tank.
Gundog Estate, The Chase, Semillon, Hunter Valley, 2019
A pale beaten gold colour in the glass. Fragrant with lemon verbena, lemon/lime rind, mirabelle plum and a hint of earthy freshness. While fruit purity shines with clarity, there’s a definite textural weight present providing further complexity without compromising the energy of the wine. A visceral approach to Hunter Semillon that excites for the now and will do so for many years to come.
