With fruit taken from the Freeman vineyard in the Hilltops region, a short drive north west of the Australian Capital Territory. Note: Bottle image has vintage 2016, but naught has changed save for the year stamp.
Gundog Estate, Hilltops Shiraz No.1, Hilltops, 2018
Heady and perfumed aromas: easy Christmas cake spice, dark chocolate, touches of woody clove spice and refreshing cool climate blue fruit profile. Offering so much within such a tight palate: Medium bodied, but overflowing with flavour. Stays in that linear, cool blue spectrum: taut and focused. Tannins a re finely corrugated and are supportive rather than overwhelming. Fresh and easy drinking up front, but with the fine balance of flavour/tannin to provide complexity and enjoyment. Groove on.
