I still marvel at the price of the Berton wines….bang for buck is an understatement. From the Riverina district of New South Wales.
Berton Vineyards, Durif, Riverina, 2018
Dense near impenetrable opaque colour. Macerated spiced cherries, blackberry, inky smoky bitumen, blue stone metal, fragrant anise and “Plaistowe” cooking chocolate. Full bore, yet still balanced palate with a wall of concentrated black fruits, almost syrupy and plenty of solid, drying tannin. An absolute steal for those who love their reds from the big end of town.
