Get your mind out of the gutter! The wines are named after the flower: Naked Lady (Amaryllis belladonna). Apparently the bulb grows abundantly throughout the vineyard, located at 600m above sea level near the village of Rylstone in the Mudgee wine growing region. Previous vintages of the wine have picked up some serious trophies. Simply packaged, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a wine label without a barcode!
Naked Lady Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mudgee, 2016
18 Months maturation in French Oak and now with a little bottle age. Cigar box, old soft leather with blackberry, dried bay leaf, red capsicum and a little rum ‘n raisin chocolate. Medium full. Sappy, grippy tannins fan out wide underneath the lean, herbed black fruit spectrum. Still some time away from being fully ready.
RRP: $25
Alc: 13.8%
Rating: 17/20
