COVID-19 gives a chance to do a little bit of catching up in the depths of the piles. Viinifera have since rolled to the 2017, but this was still a treat to taste and write up. Grown proudly by the McKendry family, certified organic and made in conjunction with the talented Jacob Stein.
Vinifera Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mudgee, 2016
Bright, shiny black berry and violet blossom dusty chalk board,, a touch of herby leaf character with creme de cassis concentration over creamy oak with savoury black olive off set. Handsome medium-full body, with astringent, ropy tannin and plenty of oak spice. Good fruit, tight and focussed with a dusty floorboard in which Cabernet outlines its signature. Rustic charm with sufficient complexity.
