Hungerford Hill, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2018
Smoky notes at first: almost acrid before black cherry, charred plum, fresh earth, dark toasted spices: nutmeg and cinnamon with bourbon/vanilla tinged oak. Modern Hunter. Smooth and medium-full with lifted fruit, yet there’s no denying the Hunter bloodline with dusty tannins. Handsomely constructed and youthfully tight.
