From the single vineyard of Sweetwater Ridge. To be placed at the bottom of the vineyard at Sweetwater Estate, gaze upwards at the imposing feudal Italianate castello….it makes for a memorable experience. Sweetwater sits at the Belford (Northern) edge of the Hunter
Thomas Wines, Sweetwater, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2018
This sits at the lighter end of the single vineyard cuvees for Thommo. Fragrant and floral with hints of almost carbonic blue fruits and wet petal tea over light dusty dry earth, grated beetroot, sweet brown spice and quality chocolate to provide a grounding. The palate sings middle-bodied with lift, tightness and quite direct acidity. There’s a touch of Thommo signature oak giving/pushing the supple tannin, yet with an electricity that none of the others seem to have, this holds its place in the line up with authority.
