Part of the Lovable Rogue range from Carillion Wines with Andrew Ling as winemaker. Fermented in a porcelain egg and made with a few grams (5) of residual sugars (hence the name) for a rounded counterpoint to bright acidity.
Carillion Wines, Lovable Rogue, Abboccato, Fiano, Hunter Valley, 2021
Light pear and richer tropical fruits with a nectarine fuzz sweetness, offset with Fiano’s soft doughy character and blossom. Silky viscosity from a little residual sugar before a powerful grapefruit citrus hit and an almost briny tang. Yin/yang finish of juicy acidity and waxy phenolics. A refreshing wine of bite and charm.
