The Longview team are very much coming of age. Gone are some of the cartoony, graphic labels of past, replaced with classic typeface: bold and countered with flowing lines representing their estate’s topography and vines. Named after a particularly nasty stretch of road in the Hills.
Longview, Devil’s Elbow, Cabernet Sauvignon, Adelaide Hills, 2020
Fragrant and base: blackberry, roast capsicum, turned earth and moss, cigar ash, pencil shavings with drinking cocoa and grated chocolate. Cool climate Cabernet in early cruise mode: chocolatey oak and plump fruit providing initial generosity before fist tight, elegant fruit driven tannins and focused, linear compulsion. Another fine release of this label.
