Clandestine Vineyards Break Free Enfant de Lune Syrah 2021

The Clandestine team have just rolled to the 2022 of this release (sometimes that happens). But if you’re sitting on a bottle of the 2021, then this is the review for you. Frankland River (waaay down south), Western Australia and a single vineyard: the famed Acacia Ridge.

Clandestine Vineyards, Break Free, Enfant de Lune, Syrah, Frankland River, 2021

Hyper fragrant plum, cassis and mocha nose with juicy stone fruit hits (a touch of Viognier?). Floral yet chalky/mineral with native blossom, coffee grounds, Turkish Delight and some charcuterie depth. Spiced and spicy. Medium full in structure with fine, grainy tannins that give a roguish touch to otherwise polished and slick fruit. Good length and kept fresh to cut through a rib eye.

RRP: $38
Alc: 14%
Rating: 18/20 (92/100)
