So, apparently d’Arenberg look after nearly a third of all of McLaren Vale’s bush vine grenache, hence being “The Custodian” of grenache. French and American oak.
d’Arenberg, The Custodian, Grenache, McLaren Vale 2013
Unmistakeable d’Arry nose. The raspberry jubey fruit pushing the dial to 11. The comforting and cuddly oak draws you in and envelops you. Red currants and raspberry firmly in the centre of the vanillan oak. Rough tannins finish with a flourish. Nothing too complex here, made exactly as it you expect it to be. A fine release of a long lived label.
