I love what Kalleske do with this wine. Vintage Ports aren’t celebrated enough. Unlike tawny ports, these are from a single year and designed to be drink like table wines… Do so with plenty of good friends around a table.

Core of tinned plum juice, white pepper, blueberry texta and some earthy baked rhubarb, Chinese BBQ Pork spice, and Belgian chocolate pralines (the little seashell shaped ones). Wickedly sweet, like the lollies you’re not supposed have when you’ve already had your fill. Purple Wine Gums, more of that chocolate praline. Dangerously slippery and silky in the mouth, it’s amazing to taste how balanced this actually is. Finishes a glass staining purple and roaring echoes of ethereal black raspberry. Should be more like it.
