Cat Amongst The Pigeons Fat Cat Shiraz 2015

The flagship of the CATP range. Winemaker is Nick Badrice for this Woolworth’s exclusive label available only at BWS and Dan Murphy’s.

Cat Amongst The Pigeons, Fat Cat, Shiraz, Barossa, 2015

Hefty packaging and even a little Gold Medal sticker from the 2017 Syrah du Monde awards. The edges drift to bruise purple with a garnet heart.  Almost stinks of Barossa: Blackberry, dark cherry and plum juice centre with a chocolatey oak wrapper. It’s like one of those small Christmas liqueur chocolates that oozes kirsch on your shirt when you don’t bite into it properly. There’s some wafts of pepper and clove with not-so-sweet-vanilla bean spices. On the palate: all those fruits with a good smack of toasty, charred oak and enough tannin to be interesting. Bound to be found for cheaper and no point ageing. Old school Barossa fans will be happy.

RRP: $29.00
Alc: 14.5%
Rating: 16/20 (87/100)
