French Oak. Slight change in the livery: simplified with the trademark stained glass window now in a gunmetal blue and centred, rather than bronze and off-set. Unfortunately, this is marked as sold out from the Cellar Door, but if you’re lucky you may be able to find some out there in retail land.
Chapel Hill, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2015
Full and generous nose with powdery choc, desiccated raspberry, baked cherry, dusty blueberry, moist coconut slice oak influence and solid earthy bluestone mineral rocks. Smooth, suave and layered red fruits, yet balanced with darkly contrasting licorice and blacker fruits slapped on generously without being jammy or overripe. Medium plush, with a steely, minerally shut-trap shut finish with very fine, gravelly tannins. All class and very good value.
