Not your usual Sauvignon Blanc. This has 21% barrel fermentation in older French oak barriques for seven months.
Katnook Estate, Founder’s Block, Sauvignon Blanc, Coonawarra, 2017
Pungent gooseberry and mushy tropical melon mix with crisper green leafy notes with underlying roasted nut layers. Potently flavoured with intense gooseberry, piquant citrus and sliced green capsicum, pushed along with fine acidity. Subtle complexity from the barrel maturation keeps this from straying into boring Savvy B territory. A good value option under $20.
