Brash Higgins, MRLO, Merlot, McLaren Vale, 2016
Fragrant, herbaceous and earthy. Warm coffee grounds, wet plums in their juice, cocoa nibs, roast almonds, old leather, dark mahogany, yeasty with glossy black hints of sweeter cola and vanilla. Stills delivers a primary palate, carrying an almost just-fermented fizz. Medium bodied with a purple and black fruit profile topped with cola/chinotto herbal bitter-sweetness. Acidity is fresh and the fine sandpaper-like tannin finish is pleasing. A unique take on Merlot that is highly likeable.
