Sourced from the S+S vineyard at Lenswood in the Hills. 2017 was a “late, cool season” and the fruit stayed on the vine a little longer than usual. The fermentation included both whole berry and whole bunch, and spent 15 days on skins.
Shaw and Smith, Pinot Noir, Adelaide Hills, 2017
Aromas of warming cherry and “mulled wine” (cinnamon, orange, red wine) balance more savoury rhubarb-esque notes. Light chocolate, thick rose petals and white pepper. A subtle fruit palate driven by crunchy acidity and a fine, firm tannin structure. Lingering cherry and strawberry red fruits over earthier tones. A cellar worthy release, this will continue to develop and evolve.
