It’s shiraz….but not as you may know it. Primal one may say. Wild ferment on skins for up to 10 days. No added sulphites or preservatives. Vegan friendly.
Kalleske, Zeitgeist, Shiraz, Barossa Valley, 2018
Soupy, fragrant, tarry, full nose of big, juicy, just crushed shiraz and dark table grape berries. Milk chocolate, studded with blueberries, pink peppercorns. Maybe a little too much lick of young alcohol, but you simply have to applaud the brashness. Thick, blunt front before a spiced medium body of quality sweet purple fruit and a sneaky assassin of young acidity. Some dark tea tannins, crushed rose petal, iodine and wax. Finishes with a cheeky wink, but respectful of those that have come before.
