The Lana range is named after the township in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Northern Italy, where Roberto and Rosetta Pizzini started their family prior to moving to Australia. Il Nostro Gallo is a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino, while the name translates to “Our Rooster.” Crow on.
Lana, Il Nostro Gallo, King Valley, 2017
This wine usually sees a wide selection of oaks (inc Slovenian). Earthy, rustic aromas with attractive plump blue/purple berry and cherry. The savoury side gives new leather, roast beet with cut lavender. Just medium bodied with pliable tannins that support the grounded nature of the wine. Ripe, smooth fruit of cherry and tangy blueberry. The Italian varieties give natural acidic thrust that beg for the table. Delicious.
