A nod to the spiritual home of Nebbiolo and Barbera that is Piedmont.
Lana by Pizzini, Nebbiolo/Barbera, King Valley, 2017
A light garnet with a clear heart, take not this as a sign of shortcomings. Spiced raisin toast with singed orange rind citrus, light anise with cherry, bath powder and earthy wet sand. Fruit is red/dark and cherry bittersweet with plenty of garden herb spice on the palate. Sharp anise hints over refreshing acidity. Deftly woven tannins draw the wine in tight. Certainly a wine for now and for food.
