Made exclusively for Cellarmasters by John Duval. Quality packaging for the price point. The quintessential Barossa blend.
John Duval Wines, Spiritus, Shiraz/Grenache/Mataro, Barossa Valley, 2016
Raspberries, pencils, plums and a leafy tail: all wrapped in chocolatey oak. There’s a little crushed ant and summer’s day bitumen road for complexity, but also a spike of heat to prickle the nasal hairs. The palate swaying in and out of brightness to drying tannin without depth of body to provide a cushion or easy up front drinkability. The wine presents a little sour, mean and tight. The anti fruit bomb approach seems miserly. Finishes a touch hard and short.
