St Hallett, Western Front, Shiraz, Barossa, 2017
Big open and generous. Plenty of dark plum, black cherry and cooking chocolate on the nose with earthier roast beets and meats. Provides solid push of flavour through the full body without being flabby or overblown. Barossa? Tick. Generous? Sure is. Simple? Not quite so: Some earthy tannin gives a little more body that out muscles many at the price point and a lingering dark choc/raspberry fruit profile that’s quite handsome. Not complaining if I won a bottle at a quiz night.
