A pigeon pair arrived in the mail, Cabernet and Chardonnay. Margaret River by the book
Warner Glen Estate, The Pick, Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon , Margaret River, 2016
Funky meaty overtones to support sweet blackberry, blackcurrant, new leather and plum fruit. There’s a burnt ends, roasting coffee chary note that pervades, but not unattractive. Wet leafy matter gives a herbaceous lift but doesn’t run too green. The middle is a miasma of layers of plush dense black fruit, strap licorice with plenty of cedary oak influences while boxy, almost chewy tannins hem it all in. Leaning well into the full bodied spectrum it gets a little warm towards the finish.
