Sangiovese specialists from Victoria’s north east, they still know that Nebbiolo can be grown well in Australia. The Pizzini’s have just rolled to the 2015, but age does not weary this wine.
Pizzini, Nebbiolo, King Valley, 2014
Garnet red in the glass with light edge and a just clear heart. Expressive aromas of rich strawberry jus, hints of balsamic while cherry, plum and tar, rose petal, light cinnamon and burnt orange round out a complex profile. Nebbiolo tannin stracture which has just started to integrate in: plentiful earthy tannins support the just medium bodied wine. Acidity remains high, cutting through the tobacco soaked plum, dark bittersweet cherry and dark chocolate. A match for earthy, gamey dishes now and for a few more years to come.
